Chepu, immersed in a privileged place of natural beauty, where the rivers Puntra and Grande meet together to form Chepu River that runs for 6 kms. before reaching the sea.

The place is surrounded by 5 rivers, evergreen forest, wetlands and dunes and beaches by the Pacific Ocean, with a trekking trail along the seaside with views over the coast line and presence of a variety of shore birds.

Chepu, a peaceful rural village with app. 300 people and houses spread along the road. Main income comes from the extraction of abalone and farming.

Chepu River Valley at the confluence of three rivers and 1.400 hás of sunken forest, is the consequence of a real fenomena created by the 1960 eartquake which sunk the ground app. 2 mts. and following tsunami which covered  the complete area with salt water, killing the trees.

After this event, rivers of the area became tidal rivers.   Biodiversity in the area adapted to this new condition.

Dead & sunken forest you can see today correspond to the remains of the forest of Chepu River Valley.
